Henry Handel Richardson's Birthday Celebration
Henry Handel RichardsonA celebration of life and works of Henry Handel Richardson and the heritage and history of Chiltern.

Henry Handel Richardson (pseudonym of author Ethel Florence Richardson) wrote many works including The Getting of Wisdom and a trilogy The Fortunes of Richard Mahony in which in Ultima Thule she describes her experiences in Chiltern. 

The event is held on Henry Handel Richard’s birthday, 3 January, each year at historic Lakeview House, where she lived for a short time as a child.

Chiltern Visual Arts Exhibition
Now in it's 9th year this show is becomming one of the regions major art events, featuring works from renowned local artists and from around Australia.

Two and Three dimensional works and  photography are eligable for for first prize money of $5OO in each category and 2009 sees the introduction of the Indigo Shire Emerging Artist Award also of $500.

Chiltern Antique Fair
Chiltern Antique FairDealers from as far away as South Australia, Melbourne, Wagga Wagga and Tumut showcasing antiques from fine china to jewellery and everything in between. One of the largest antique shows in regional Australia this an event not to be missed by the serious collector of fine antiques.

Super 8 Film Day
Super 8 film cameras are still a very popular way of making films today by both professional and amateur film makers. The day includes film making workshops and screenings of short films by super 8 filmmakers.

Chiltern Ironbark Festival
This major spring event celebrates the magnificent parkland, heritage and history of Chiltern. All day entertainment with craft markets, a food court, wood crafts and many children’s activities. Fascinating demonstrations include coopering, post and rail and sheep shearing. Free guided walks are around the town and national park. This town festival is not to be missed.

Movie Nights at Chiltern’s Historic Star Theatre
A unique and wonderful experience, the Star Theatre is like stepping back in time to the atmosphere of the old world picture theme of the 1940’s. The movie night includes BBQ dinner, film viewing and discussion, supper and the occasional guest speaker. Bookings essential.
